Maggie In Motion

Canada part 4: weeks seven & eight

Maggie is over halfway through our trip here and truckin right along. It’s hard to believe we’ve been here 8 weeks, away from home. It’s gone by fast and slow at the same time. We’re looking forward to getting home but grateful for the opportunity to be here.

Maggie continues to work on the same tasks- as I’ve mentioned before- rolling, sitting, crawling, standing, walking. As she works, she gets better and better. Everything works together and as one improves, so does the other. Her trunk continues to improve which is why her transition from lying down to sitting up has greatly improved- it seems nearly effortless for her now- and she’s able to stand better and of course walk with the big ball or a walker. All of this is because her trunk support is better and every move she does during her session focuses on improving her trunk. And it’s working! It takes time to build that foundation.

These last two weeks, she’s been standing up longer with the big ball and walking down the mat with it on her own. Previously, Natan was supporting her legs while she pushed the ball down the mat, now she’s doing it all. Which, again, is actually harder than using a walker because the ball is less steady and she has to focus on moving her hands to roll it and stepping with her legs.

THANK YOU so much for helping us get here and for all your continued generosity to keep us here for an extended trip. You’re really making a difference in Maggie’s life!!
